Book launch-Whoop Whoop :-)

The day is finally here. I am pretty psyched to be honest. I have attended only one book launch of the very few that happen here in Kampala and so this might be different from the usual for book launch ‘hoppers’.

I’m planning on having a really good time it’s not every day that one publishes a book(or is it?) plus this is my first book of (hopefully) very many bestsellers.

My mission is to encourage people in the love of God and to discover and walk in their purpose (check out About)

If this evening one person is convinced that they are being loved or one person is inspired to chase their dream and fulfill their purpose, then… well then!

World Poetry Day and Writing Contest

Last Sunday, I traveled to Kabale with two amazing poets to facilitate and inspire students at a Language day festival. It was the beginning of our World Poetry Day celebrations.

You might have read my poems On the bus and Journeying which were about my trip. I’ll be posting some photos soon of beautiful Kabale but for now you can read about my experience there here.

One of the poets I traveled with, Beverley, is the founder of Babishai Niwe poetry foundation (the organization under which we traveled and which gave me the opportunity). Anyway, Bev holds an annual poetry award for African poets on the continent and in the diaspora. It’s a great experience and opportunity for poets (the winner also gets $1000 :-)). I thought you guys might be interested in checking it out here.

Keep calm and write poetry 🙂
you are being loved ❤

Do you have a poem on love or finding purpose/chasing dreams?
Please do share link to it in the comment section.
I try to browse for inspiration hoping I’ll find something but I thought it might just be easier to ask.

Stuck on the Shore

SONY DSC                                        I call this one ‘Stuck on the shore’

My dear friend Caro (guilty photographer behind my gravator) is helping me out with choosing photos to go with a collection of love themed poems that I’m writing and compiling. We were stuck with what to choose for some poems tonight so we decided to go through her archives for inspiration.

Mahn!

I had forgotten what an amazing photographer she is. Her photos are in my top 5 muses. I’m dedicating my next two posts to some of my favorites from her. You can check out more of her work here.

All good work deserves to be celebrated.
All great friends deserve to be celebrated 🙂

Iridescent (Give the word a chance)

Hello and happy Sunday to you 🙂
Last Sunday I started a ‘thing’ whereby I get a word I rarely use in my daily speech or writing and I write a poem using it. Last Sunday, it was the word ‘Thoroughly‘, this Sunday it is iridescent. I have never used this word ever so I had real fun writing this. You are welcome to give me examples on how to use the word in different ways in the comment section.
Okay enough talk, presenting IRIDESCENT…

*********************************************************************************************************

IRIDESCENT
Purples, blues,
Lavender, hues
Of Light and life.
No shadows lurking
Anymore.
Rays and bubbles iridescently
Shining, shimmering, showing
Beauty, majesty, royalty
In places it wasn’t seen before.
Opening cases so long closed
Unlocking dreams
Releasing truths and self-worth
Long covered in darkness
In the mire poured over you
In lies whispered to you
By the world.
Now you’re soaring
Casting off shame as you rise
Being cleansed
Illuminated.
This Iridescent life
Is coming from you.

******************************************THE END*******************************************

Cheers to Daniel who started following my blog this weekend and his blog title introduced me to today’s word.

Over to you.
